Peace King!

No comments:
Peace to all the Kings whom nurture, protect and provide for their child(ren) every single day. You’re supreme individuals.

Peace to all the Kings who are expecting and preparing for the arrival of a newborn baby. You’re loved and valued.

Peace to all the Kings whom take care of children whom aren’t biologically their own, yet still protect, provide and nurture their growth!

Peace to all the Kings whom raise their child(ren) on their own. You are amazing individuals and need to be celebrated daily.

Peace to the King in my womb. Swimming around and kicking mommy every day, reminding her how valued her life is!

I loved his past soo much
I forgot about our future
I was so wrapped up in his words
I feared his actions
Whatever he told me became the new testament

Would you hold my hand on the hospital bed?

If I made a life altering decision based on the words of man, what kind of woman would I be?
They see a strong woman who can’t be coerced or manipulated. So they fear her, seek to destroy her presence.

The Love Letter Movement | Poetic Series of Love

1 comment:
It is no secret that I love receiving love letters and writing them. I think they are the most honest form of communication dating back to the beginning of time. Love Letters are just as valuable if not more cherished than our favourite material things. We cling to them and even if we put them away they are still close to our hearts.

I have officially began the "love letter movement" I've been wanting to do since last year. The "love letter movement" is a series of handwritten "love" notes to unsuspecting people. These notes are placed in secretive places. You can find them in books, newspapers, magazines, envelopes, shelves. Anywhere.

Everyone needs to be reminded that they have purpose and that they are loved. Whether its from a friend...or a stranger.

They will be dated and initialed with WJ. Will you join on this random act of love?
---
I'm aware these letters could end up lost amongst the litter in the street, thrown out or cherished forever. However, my words will always have a place among the Universe.

"Darker times
They're tellin boulder heavy lies
Looks like all we've got is each other
The truth is obsolete
Remember when all I had was my mother
She didn't compromise
She could recognize, voodoo
Our daughters and our sons
Are just candles in the sun, voodoo
Don't let him see divide, mmmm
Don't you let her see divide
Voodoo

She's got the whole wide world in her Juicy Fruit
He's got the whole wide world in his pants
He wrapped the whole wide world in a wedding band
Then put the whole wide world on her hands
She's got the whole wide world in her hands
He's got the whole wide world in his hands
His hands

My Santa Monica Dream |

No comments:
Time restricts us
Energy connects us
The fallacy of clocks do not apply to us
You have become the stars that look upon me at night through my windowpane
I eagerly look back in the midst of darkness welcoming your light into my room each night
You make me feel like a child on the playground
I just wanna stay down in this daze
Perhaps on a bed
Laying with you
I thirst for you
I used to think I was insane because I fell for your essence soo quickly
But I pity those who will never get to experience your divine entity
Butterflies line my stomach as I write this for my King
We will go through transformations together in the midst of our separation
Beneath your skin
In your chest
Their lies a heart beating me for me
Longing for my supreme touch and gentle kisses
I want to experience you in the most beautiful way
My lips were meant for you to caress
For you to experience
I imagine us nose to nose
While you contemplate the perfect time to float with my canvas
Spiritually
Sexually
Mentally - I've already decided you're the one that was destined for me
I just want your head between me as I twist your hair
While you kiss my legs beside your cheekbones
This is not a poem but a mere expression how I feel for you - right now
It will change
Feelings will shift
Emotions will develop
But I know it will only intensify for you
You have become the root of my new-found love
You are the King of my dreams

Spirits gliding in the mist of one another
You greet me in the night
You are my favourite ghost
You cover me with my blanket head to toe
Protecting me from the monsters underneath my bed
The skeletons in my closet

Conversations With My Mother.

No comments:
My love is soo honest and true. Not everyone is worthy.

My mom looked at me and said: "What did you learn?
I replied, "My love isn't simple. It isn't for anyone to understand but myself."

I went on to say, "If a man pushes my love away for another. He is not worthy of my compassion. Yet deserving of my silence."

Morning Glory

No comments:
I told the Universe I wanted honesty, vulnerability, love, passion & conversation that flows like poetry
She heard me
My mornings are joyful because you pray for me to have a peaceful sleep
And passionate dreams that I could remember
You trace poetic words with your tongue on my body
You said I came at the right time
Your consistency comes with persistence, knowledge and wisdom.
You're beyond a triple threat.
Whoever you are. I will not turn you away
For you have come to me at my most delicate stage

My Thoughts On People Whom Say: 'Natural Hair Is A Trend..'

No comments:

In my most humble opinion:
The people who say ‘natural hair’ is a trend that I encounter daily are folks who don’t have natural hair.
Go figure
I’m sorry but if you never took a razor or scissors to your hair whilst cutting off all your perm and don’t have natural hair. You can’t speak for me.
Natural hair is not a trend.
Black girls now have more access to black women on television & in the media whom made the big chop and are showing different representations of Natural Hair.
This includes women of all shades, tones, shapes, and ethnicity.
If you don’t have natural hair and did not endure the struggles I went through after having permed tresses for over 10 years and FINALLY having the strength to embrace the natural side of ME.
You sure of hell can’t speak for me.

The Unconventional Prevails

1 comment:
Today I snapped out of my normal Sunday day routine and went to the book store. Not only was it refreshing. I needed this time to myself to get lost in a sea of mystery and imagination. I didn't know what I was there for, so I just walked around to explore. I started off in the non-fiction shelves and ended up finding my roots - art. My one and true love. I stumbled across the book 'The Art Of Rebellion III'. It's about unconventional art in professional spaces and places. I was drawn to this photo in the book due to the message it carried out. I was going to draw up a whole synopsis on how dope it is. But I'll let you do that yourself.
Did you step out your comfort zone today?

If I touch you
I'm gonna want to feel you
Go search the depths of your soul
If I hug you
I'm gonna want comfort, during those nights were it's cold
The nights were I'm crying my eyes out
As my soft tears roll down my cheeks then hit my pillow
My attitude, so prideful and bold
My head held high in the streets
Only to lower as I enter my key into the door
I want to say I love you
But its trapped in the mental images I store
In my brain -
For you to live, and leave me, when your time came
I love you more than anything
It's just hard, to get closer to someone, I may loose
I wish you were here forever
To help me forget about my sorrow
My blues
As I ignore, my nightmares
I dream that you will stay right here.
If I say I love you
That will make me weak
Giving all my love to something that God wont let me keep.

A Poem A Day, Keeps The Doctor Away

No comments:
Tis' another year. Full of new adventures, experiences, failed resolutions and memories to slide into our back pockets. Each year I tell myself I will take one photo a day and compile the greatest 365 PROJECT and it never happens. Procrastination gets the better of me. However, this year I vow to do something different.

How about one poem a day? It can be recorded, hand-written, short, long. It doesn't really matter. My tender, happy, sad, lonely thoughts recorded for one year straight. The growth will be tremendous. Low and behold. Project 365.

To All The Confused Women

No comments:
To all the confused women
What you do in the dark will come to light
So take heed in your decisions
Prevision you life

To all the confused women
You're not alone
I too, went down the same road
Longing for answers that left my soul -
Incomplete

Defeat, was what I felt
I went to seek comfort in somebody else
I ignored the light that shined within

To all the confused women
Put your clothes back on
Do not lose your throne
Because he utters the sweetest thangs you'd ever known

Far & Near | Rip Daddy!

No comments:
I originally wrote this on Monday, August 24th, 2009 | I would wake up in the middle and the night and feel someone looking over me, watching me. I lost my father to a senseless act of violence when I was one years old. He was killed in the projects. Regent Park, Toronto, Ontario. I haven't been the same since. How could you love someone soo much you barely remember, I ask myself. It's something that transcends beyond reality.

A man that will never have the chance to walk me down the aisle, smiles politely as he watches his daughter grow up. He is proud of me I hear. The wind tells me as it presses against my ear as I walk alone at nights.

I live in his name. His daughter who resembles him through vanity, personality, hustling, substance. You're my first King. You watch me blossom into a Queen from the nature around me.

Tony is what they call me.

You lay far from here.
Resting eternally
Faint smiles grace my face
As I think about your life.
Your passion for life.
Your dedication
Your sons and daughters
Your love for my mother. .
I wonder, if you think:
When will she give up this strife?
Of carrying me on..
Almost 16 years coming, and she always held on.
My place where you lay in my heart
Forever -
It will stay strong
As long as my heart beats
Your subtle, gentle love will prolong
I will never forget the face
of the first man I ever loved.
Your chestnut
light brown eyes
Piercing back
identically to mine.
I hear that's what we share in common, all the time.
When wild and graze thoughts run through my collective mind.
I look in the mirror
I reminisce about the -
time spent, and time lost
In times of sorrow
I reflect and look into the dark blue, midnight sky
wondering if your looking back at me. .
Wondering -
why God took you soo early - from me?
I smell your dark, musky scent
Even though you are far
I know you are following my footsteps as the days go bye.
Always steering me out of danger and surprise.
Everytime I need you near
I look into the mirror to see you, one more time.
